What they are

Friarielli are the iconic bitter greens of Naples — intense, earthy, and full of character. They’re the essential topping for a true Salsiccia e Friarielli pizza, bringing that unmistakable savoury depth only real Neapolitan greens can deliver.

How we prepare them for you

Unlike most friarielli, which come swimming in oil and drown the pizza, ours contain only around 5% olive oil. They’re packed cleanly and kept deliberately light so they don’t release excess oil during baking. This means your pizza stays crisp, balanced, and digestible — not heavy, greasy or flattened by fat.

Why they matter

Standard jarred friarielli in the UK are usually oily, soft, and overwhelming. These are the opposite: bold but clean, bitter but refined, and perfectly calibrated for pizza. They give you the authentic Neapolitan flavour without the usual weight or greasiness.
